Whether it is face to face interaction, social media, email or text, most activities done in a typical day require a form of communication. Understanding that human beings are each made up of their own unique traits will improve communicate. When a gap in communication is recognized, it is imperative to find a way to bridge the gap.
The Institute of Learning went to great lengths to bridge the gap once their main issues were identified. The outcome has been a Microsoft One Note that a majority of the staff utilizes, weekly huddles report what each employee has on their docket for the week, outlines and calendars to bring 20 people together to run the department efficiently and cohesively as a department unit. It took effort from everyone and is nowhere near perfected, but the improvement is phenomenal. A happy team creates a happy work environment that leads to greater accomplishments. The most important aspect that should come from this research is that staff take the time to listen to each other. The concerns should not be looked over, all concerns need to be address in a timely manner. When an employee feels that they matter attitudes and morale will improve, thus leading to a more productive environment.
