The Continental Army was the USA's Army during the Revolutionary War. It was formed on June 14, 1775 by the Second Continental Congress. George Washington was the general of the army. It consisted of about 22,000 troops. 9000 of those troops were slaves. That number is kind of high, right? it's because they said that they could be FREE but few slaves were actually freed. But the British freed all of the slaves that fought on their side, even though they lost. The whole army was fueled by hope and support by the French and Spanish.
