Good morning everybody. Today I will be doing my presentation on John Anderson’s book called “2 Seats left” and his successes his well-known tour company “Contiki”. In my presentation I will be covering the following, the Story of Contiki, how to establish a tourism business, growing a tourism business, traps to avoid when dealing with businesses and a summary.
THE STORY OF CONTIKI:
Everything starts with a dream right? Well this dream of John Anderson was to travel to Europe. A child born to a dentist (His father) and a housewife (His mother). You need to think about how you will sell, how it’s going to make a profit, competition like when Sir George Seymour College was up against Travel Careers and Training. But lucky! John Anderson fell lucky in this particular area. His business was supposed to be a one off trip to Europe from London where he was able to travel with other people of 11 at no cost to go with him. How did a simple idea become so big? Amazingly he successfully hit the target market that was fresh and new to the market. So from his ideas we can literally follow his strategies for establishing a successful tourism business. There are 7 ways of how to establish a tourism business, My first point: Always do your research, research and study the area that you wish to pursue in, set and target a specific audience, so that you can focus on that particular audience and see what would be appropriate for that audience so that you can value your product and look into it more. My second point: Trial your current idea before making your official decision on it – even though John Anderson did go through some difficulties, it’s a good way for him to get rid …show more content…
It can be like watching a baby grow, that’s how I see it but in a mature in a professional way, there are several guidelines that you need to consider like having a good sales and marketing plan behind you, so that you bring profit in and demands are meeting supplies for your business to grow and expand more and more. Another good one would be to have a good research and development team, to ensure that all information is accurate and updated on a daily basis, products are still appropriate for your target audience. For tourism businesses, it would be good to have a good operations team as well as field and office. Field Staff so that you can ensure that the tours are going accordingly to plan and an office to ensure that your structure holds up. Not forgetting Finances off to delegate company assets into area’s bringing more revenue to your business. These points have a strong point and are all equally important along with the qualities for growing a tourism
