This means that people have access to buy whatever they want because of the low prices. People started to buy stuff they don’t need. Consumerism negatively affects all aspects of society.

One example of how consumerism negatively affects all aspects of society is through the natural resources. People gather resources to make materials for people to use. Society has become obsessed with the idea of consumption however, if you knew its effects, you might not want to buy these things. These are known as externalized costs. By purchasing the same products repetitively, the consumer encourages the corporation to mass produce in order to keep up the supply for the demand. This entices the companies to create shortcuts which ultimately lead to the externalized costs that the consumers indirectly pay for. Without realising it, consumers pay for costs that aren’t associated with the product upon its purchase.…

As the trash begins to decompose and is exposed to the sun and weather, they release an abundant amount of gas emissions that are not really helpful to the air and the environment around the landfill areas. These gas emissions can affect both plants and animals that try to live near these landfills. Also according to WeGreen-USA, landfills pollute the groundwater which releases “toxins into fresh water waterways.” Trash production, especially in the plastic category, has become such a largely noticed issue, that states and counties have taken action in order to help reduce the production of plastic waste.…

If the-the toxic chemicals make it to the ground it could cause disastrous damage to the soil. With all of the new trash being thrown away, the landfills would become harder to manage.…
