Human Resource Consulting addresses the decisions that need to be taken by organisations about their HR management tasks and decisions. The HR consultants are responsible for assisting the clients by providing solutions that improve their HR processes and thereby lead to organisational success. Their role is to improve the client’s performance by working on maximising the efficiency of their human resources. For understanding the scope of HR consulting, it is important to understand its significance and evolution in the country.

It has the highest share in the GDP of the country, accounting for almost 57% of the share in 2012. This has been a sharp rise when compare to the share of 15 % that service sector had in 1950. The HR services have also seen a similar growth pattern even though they contributes a very small portion to the total share of service sector in the GDP.

Human Resource Consulting forms an important part of these HR services in the country. It involves helping an organisation to improve its organisational performance by ensuring smooth functioning of its HR function. HR consulting evolved from management consulting and came into focus to meet the needs of various organisations in their HR function. As new organisations were set up and various others grew in size, managing human resources became more challenging. In addition to this, the business friendly practices in the country’s foreign policies that have been brought about by the Narendra Modi Government have only improved the chances of entry of these firms. These new multinational companies could benefit a lot by the experience and insight that the HR consultants working in India could provide. Setting up a company in the country without sufficient information about its culture, views, attitudes, etc. could prove to be a mistake resulting in failure of the venture.
