Maxwell's Case Study

To be a successful level 3 leader Maxwell discusses six ways that help a leader produce. He mentions the importance of prioritizing and eliminating things that are not necessary for you to be doing, putting what is important first (Maxwell, 2011). “That means understanding how to prioritize time, tasks, resources, and even people” (Maxwell, 2011, p. 161). What is very important says Maxwell is to concentrate on your strengths because you will get the most out of what your are good at. This will help increase your productivity (Maxwell, 2011). Maxwell also mentions that he likes to utilize the Pareto Principle, “The Pareto Principle basically says that if you do the top 20 percent of your to-do list, it will yield you an 80 percent return on your efforts” (Maxwell, 2011, p. 161). He also indicates that to properly utilize this method of the Pareto Principle he asks himself three questions. First what is required of me? Second what gives me the greatest return? I know that problematic situations come up in everyday life and I can relate to many of them. Showing concern for people is important as a leader, you want to let others know that you care about them. I think that all this will help with a leader and subordinate relationship.
