Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals. Although I am not the first generation to go to college I am the first to pursue a traditional four year university. My parents had humble begins growing up in the impoverished islands of the Philippines experiencing its indifferent government notoriously known for corruption, homelessness, and danger. When the Philippines became too dangerous the best solution was to migrate to America. My dad arrived in the states poor and could only afford to a bike, riding an hour to and from school. In fact, my ability to swim barely reaches mediocre; however I never give up when adversity kicks in or when things get hard. A lot of my friends quit athletics their 2nd year so that they can take up other electives and double up on foreign languages. I chose to dedicate my time and use two of my blocks for swimming, because I know that the experience can help me understand and build upon my principles. I have come to understand team work and dedication, day in and day out. My attitude and confidence continues to mature and with each passing day I continue to believe in myself more and more. I always find myself striving to be better, pushing myself past my boundaries only to find that a person’s mind is limitless. My unquenchable desire to succeed has helped me notice that this positive energy fuels the team just as much as it fuels me. The enthusiasm spreads like a wild fire to my team mates who always have my back. With each passing day I feel better about diving into the pool and finishing a race because I have the undying support of my teammates and coaches. Their presence cannot help but cause a surge of strength to keep moving
