Preserve on Artwork
The artwork that I chose to Preserve was "Gray Tree", because it caught my eye on the way it looked. The caption of "Gray Tree" is a simple way of explaining the artwork. "Gray Tree" Contour Lines are wavy and thick which bring out the form of a tree. I believe this was Piet Mondrian's goal to make it a simple and understandable painting. The caption of the artwork, the painting itself, and the colors he used to create the tree are simple. Value and Contrast come together in this painting. The Value is the background going from a light gray background to the black and dark gray tree, which bring out the contrast in the tree. Mondrian did a great job and made a complete statement and understanding that it’s a gray tree.
