Weight loss can effectively happen if an individual follows the correct diet. There are two main types of diets which are heart healthy diets and weight loss diets. More people tend to go on weight loss diets because they see results quicker however, there is also downside to this, which is that they are deprive their body of the essential nutrients, they can develop bodily or eating disorders which they may not be able to stop. People who go on these diets do not know that the advertisements they see that say “scientifically proven to help you lose weight fast” do not have any science behind their studies it is the marketers who do this. These changes may look good at first but they will affect the individual in harmful ways. One consequence of dieting would be that instead of gaining health the individual is becoming malnutrition because they are depriving their body when they do this they lose muscle as well as fat and if they lose too much it may disturb their body. Another consequence of weight loss diets is because they can cause eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder where preoccupations with dieting and thinness leads to excessive weight loss while the individual continues to feel fat and fails to acknowledge that the weight loss or thinness is a problem. People can become anorexic if they do not eat enough because they think they are too fat and his urge to become thin starts when the individual starts dieting to look a certain way and they do that by not eating at all. Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder in which a person indulges in recurrent episodes of binge eating, followed by purging through self-induced vomiting or by the use of laxatives and/or diuretics in order to prevent weight gain. Diets began in the 1700 century and continue to change to this day and will continue to evolve. It is up to the individual to choose what is right for them and which diet they want to follow either heart healthy diets in which they change their eating habits or weight loss diets in which they eliminate certain foods to lose weight which is unhealthy because they are depriving their body from certain nutrients. Weight loss diets can be harmful because they can cause bodily disorders in the individual such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Another reason why weight loss diets are not good is because there is no scientific proof behind what they claim to be healthy weight loss which is “scientifically proven”. They come up with the claims themselves and advertise it too. If an individual wants to lose weight in a healthy fashion they should control their intake of food and energy
