Poverty in our country has many broad consequences for society. This impacts children the most. The number of people living at or below the poverty level in the United States is on the rise. Poverty does not get the attention that it should from our news media. Society needs to ensure that its future leaders, our children, are successful. Poverty is everyone's problem and we need to act now. The three main consequences of poverty are academic performance, social relationships with peers and physical health and well-being. America for a long time based its economy in agriculture. During that era predominantly in the West, people had very large families they required their children
