Mistakes always lead to consequences, which was what happened to Hans Hubermann. Hans acted without thinking, leading to him being sent to war. It has a great effect on the Hubermann household because he is a husband/father/provider for his family. Because of the mistake he made, he was not surprised to be sent to help in the war.
