In chapter 15 it discussed delinquency in schools. Some school experiences are associated with low academic performances that intend to not do well in school. Some more things that can happen is not bringing homework to class and participating will become a problem as well. Some scenarios the juvenile might say would be school is boring, have poor relationship with teacher, and low education/ occupational goals. Another problem is dropping out of school this becomes a big problem when the juvenile drops out because most of the time they turn to gangs and drugs. Lots of variables are based on how bad the child wants to stay in school. Children have intelligence and the right to make decisions if they want to do good or bad in school. I think it starts at home a lot of times because of what things they go through at home. If a child sees their parents fighting and arguing then at some point they will act that out and if they see them do drugs and drank that will be acted out as well. This makes it hard on them to learn and pay attention in school. When a juvenile drops out of school most of the time they will become a delinquent. In delinquency they’re students that engage in delinquency in school, some can be serious, some not as serious, and some have both. Sometimes they become so serious that the school sees a huge loss financially. Sometimes high school adolescents start vandalizing property and other commercial businesses when they become juvenile delinquents. According to 2009-10 48% of serious violence has becomes a problem and 17% of the violence takes place at schools. Bullying has become a huge problem in schools now. In chapter 16 peers and gangs was discussed and how it affects an adolescent’s life. A lot of delinquency is committed when adolescents have the company of other peers. When other peers hang out with each other they should encourage each other to not get involved with gangs. Adolescents need to second guess what they do before doing it so it will save them from becoming a juvenile delinquent. If an adolescent they can sometime be rebellious and very defiant when it comes to authority. They’re a lot of different conditions that leads adolescents to becoming a delinquent. This chapter also explains the third variables and vidual traits about individuals. Peer groups are one that is talked about. When we hear of peer groups we think of friendships and relationships. Some types of delinquency go by size and compositions. Two or more juveniles that is in groups are sometimes called offending groups. Offending groups always has an instigator in there crowd. Some accomplice and networks are involved in this group. Group members are similar in sex (female or male) and age. Most of the time the instigator of the group is older so they can talk the younger peer into doing the dirty work so they will go to jail.
