Long term effects of having a concussion could be; mood disturbances, cognitive difficulties, and behavior issues. It is also possible that there could be a change in judgment or attention span. If an athlete does not return to play too early then it is likely that they can have a full recovery, but if they do they are more vulnerable to further damage which can then lead to the long term effects. Although, some athletes have shorter recovery time and there is also technological advances that claim to minimize risk of injury and protect a developing brain from long term damage. Many students also don't realize there is anything wrong because we rely on symptoms to let us know something is wrong. It varies, but some people can go very long periods of time without experiencing any symptoms at all. Students also sometimes don't want to report their symptoms just because of fact that they might be taken off the playing field but they would eventually not be able to hide them anymore. Post concussion syndrome is when patients show symptoms such as: headaches, dizziness, irritability, and sometimes even depression which continue to persist for more than 6 weeks. This makes diagnosing the concussion very easy. Athletes need to be required to take longer breaks from sports when they have suffered from a concussion, this will lower the chance loads of kids having permanent brain damage. If we make sure they sit out longer it will reduce the risk of them having another concussion and this will in the end, work out better for them because they will be able to play fully because they have recovered all the
