Fracking In The Simpsons

There are many consequences for polluting the environment Homer Simpson from the Simpsons movie is well aware of these consequences. To start things off I will be discussing a major problem that is occurring all over the United States today. Hydraulic fracturing also known as fracking is a crisis that is occurring all over the United States today, even in Colorado. Fracking is when industries drill about a million to a ton of gallons of water, sand, and chemicals under high pressure into a well underneath the earth to retract resources such as oil and natural gas. Natural gas is flammable gas, consisting largely of methane and other hydrocarbons, occurring naturally underground and used as fuel. The process to extract these resources efficiently …show more content…
Reports have shown that workers obtain burns on their hands and face if not wearing protective gear. If workers must wear protective gear therefore fracking is hazardous and not safe for the public. Hundreds of these workers have been injured with burns and are left with scars. to be drilling these chemicals into our ground which may stream into our drinking water, pollute our earth, and make citizens ill. Also the disposal of the water waste is unregulated they just leave it in a ditch out in the open not contained or disposed of. Animals drink this water and become very sick as well, so maybe the hundred eyed squirrel from the Simpsons movie is not so farfetched after all. They begin to lose hair, lose weight, and lose strength all together which will result in their death. Animals are being murdered by this contaminated water if animals are being killed by this think about the effect it will have on humans. Hydraulic fracturing pollutes the environment extremely, then why do corporations decide to further conduct these wells to drill? Why put the public in danger just for more non-renewable resources when Americans could build solar panels, windmills, and water turbine? These renewable resources will remain useful for thousands of year to come and not pollute our environment to keep our home …show more content…
The EPA should be investigating hydraulic fracturing for the people, due to the many complaints about fracking. Despite the Simpsons portrayal of the EPA can actually do some good, by shutting down hydraulic fracturing, but they are not doing anything. The citizens of the United States deserve an investigation; they definitely do not deserve to be exposed to secret chemicals that are being drilled into the earth by natural gas corporations. The EPA has the authority to investigate, but simply abandoned the studies on hydraulic fracturing. The purpose of the EPA is to protect all Americans from all the types of health and safety hazards, but fracking is obviously unhealthy and hazardous for the United States community. Hydraulic fracturing is dangerous to the people due to all of the known, unknown, and well known chemicals that are being drilled underneath our earth. The EPA is not getting involved in these corporations they are allowing these businesses to do whatever they please without the long term effect to our land and people being

The main reason why we animal test is for cosmetic research, not medical research, which is the only type that can be half accepted. Medical research for humans on animals means they still do not get the correct results we need because of the two different reactions of chemicals in two different animals. Popular brands hide the way they animal test because they know that when people find out their product will not sell as well. Global warming is also a huge and rising problem on our earth, and by cutting out cosmetic research on animals, it will mean a few hundred less factories running around the world and releasing fumes into the atmosphere. This will mean a lot of jobs lost, but there are plenty more jobs in the world and it will only benefit our world.…

With the heavy metals many chemicals are used. Many companies don’t want to release the what chemicals they use, want to keep it confidential. This has caused concern with regulators, emergency responders, health care providers, and residents who are inquisitive about fracking. (Duggan-Haas & Ross, 2014 pg. 71) I would not feel comfortable living near a well where 180+ chemicals I have trouble producing, are inserted into the ground where I get my drinking water.…

“Hydro Fracturing” is a terrible thing due to the harm it does to the environment, the health problems it causes, and the earthquakes that come from it. No matter how cheap it is, there are more important things such as the earth we live on, the people we love, and the home we live in. The other options available prove that we don 't have to harm living things to gain energy. That is why you should not support fracking. Together, those who believe in this cause can protest, petition, and boycott until the practice of fracking is completely…

The world is killing our environment with needs which have lead to a decline in resources, a decline in the environment and global warming. If the environment is going to survive for future generations, the consumer society will have to dramatically decline its use of resources, mostly by being safer when extracting resources and not extracting more than the world needs at the moment. To start off, the world needs to be safer while extracting resources. The world does need resources, but they do not need to harm the world in order to get them. For example, their need for oil in the world has caused many disasters to animals and even humans.…

However, proponents forget to mention the toxic chemicals used in hydraulic fracking and drilling. Proponents say the fracking fluid is mainly water, but this is questionable as congress has hidden many trace chemicals (Bergeron). The government wouldn’t have to hide these chemicals from public view if the chemicals were safe. Everyday millions will be exposed to harsh chemicals. From a humanitarian standpoint, chemical exposure extremely dangerous to anyone who works in the industry.…
