During the 1800’s, people barely started to discover what bullying was and how it affected others. Bullying is any form of taunting to someone to an extent where that person is physically or emotionally hurt. There was a book written in 1857 known as the first piece of literature that pointed out the problem of bullying (Timetoast). As more years progressed and more knowledge of bullying was developed, people were able to experience some other effects of bullying during the late 1900’s like self harm. There are many different bullying cases that placed a great impact for improvement to the world. There were more suicide stories that created the idea that bullying was a form of verbally or physically taunting someone (Timetoast). Even today, …show more content…
Specifically, a parent can lose their child during a suicide incidence, for example, if the child has gotten to the point where they think that they have not received enough care in the world ,or they have been disliked by the majority of the people in their life. Losing a life of a child would be placed as a long term consequence for the parent because there is no way that the child 's life can be restored. A short term consequence would be if their child is not eating healthy or they’re cutting themselves. As a parent, it’s important to be cautious of what is going on in a child 's life because without support from others it can be very hard for a child to be able to control what they are doing to themselves like self harm. If a parent is providing low parental awareness to their child, it can lead a child into depression and the only way for a child to get out of depression is to find thing to do that will lighten up their mood. A 16 year old girl named Cassidy in San Antonio, Texas joined a pageant to get away from feeling so depressed after she was bullied by classmates in middle school and won it (Nichols). Distractions are good to get rid of depression, but they don’t completely stop the bullying, which means that the parents need to step in to help their child stop the bullying. In Washington a mother, Nicole Simmons describes how she has only complained to the school about not doing anything for her child who is being bullied (Johnson). Nicole didn’t decide to go further than just complaining to the school which ultimately created the thought of low importance of awareness for her daughter being racially bullied. Nicole 's daughter would have continued to be bullied by her classmates because neither the mother or the school reached for solving the problem.
