Great Essays

Along with not even doing anything with the attention of the driver. There have already been a significant amount of bans in many other provinces or states that people just get annoyed that there are so many bans, and they start to not care about any of the bans. Lastly, the amount of enforcement officers would have to do would be extremely hard. Now a days everything is on a cell phone, for example a GPS. There are moments, like driving that need full attention where one cannot be multitasking. In fact, it is six times more likely to cause an accident than driving intoxicated (Bands, n.d.). That means that even when an individual is drunk and does not have their mind all there it is still more dangerous and deadly to everyone on the road to be texting and driving. Another great reason to not text and drive is that it slows brake reaction speed by 18% (Bands, n.d.). When the reaction one has slows down to press on breaks this causes rear end car accidents. In the state of Arizona this is a big deal because 99% of the time it is the rear ender at fault (Phillips Law Group, 2010). Although they have not all been successful there are still some in other states that have banned cell phone usage in all. In Arizona, there has been a ban that has just passed where wireless communication devices of the first six months of having a license (Olgin, 2015). With this ban it is believed that hopefully for the first six month of having is license one will not use a cellphone. and create a habit after those six months and never have a problem with cell phone usage again. Also, strong laws that are publicized well and strongly enforce the encouragement of not texting and driving is proven as a counter-measure for changing the behavior of drivers. In the long run, the ban of texting and driving in other states has shown an increase in seat belt use, decrease in alcohol impaired driving and reduction in car accident deaths. States can make as many laws and bans as they want but it ultimately has to come from the driver to make the right choice. Drivers need to be aware of decisions they are making and if they value cell phone usage over the precious lives of other drivers. Driving is supposed to take all of an individual attention alone. But adding more distraction than there already is with kids, music and sights on the road can be be even more dangerous and even deadly. In the end being a more responsible adult that needs to make wiser decisions is something

It was the winter of my junior year I was cruising along in my car listening to Katy Perry’s song “Hot N Cold.” The lyrics “You change your mind” were blasting through my 2010 Kia Rio speakers. It was at that moment that I realized that life can stop in an instant, mid thought, mid sneeze, even mid lyric, and feel like the world is crashing down around you.
