Cons Of College

In today’s society many parents are starting to make their children begin thinking about college when they are in middle school and sometimes while they are still in elementary school. They believe that starting their children early in the college thinking process and determining what their career is essential. But, others think that this will result in burnout, or the lack of interest. I think that I should have started to think about college and my career earlier than I did, also there are many pros to the early development of college and there are many cons. To begin, I didn’t start thinking about college until I was a senior in high school. I am and was the type of person that doesn’t want to make big and final decisions until the last moment. I think I do this because I’m scared that I am going to make a mistake and if I overthink it I am never going to come to a conclusion. The bad thing that many are facing is that if you overwhelm your child at a really young age many are afraid that by the time they actually have to make their decision they are going to be burnt out. They might feel too much pressure and knowing that it’s such a major decision it might hold them back. Also, this could make these kids make the choice that their parents want and be used to them always telling them what to do, and where to go. When they get out on their own it’s going to be a totally different style and it’s going to be like they can’t control themselves. They will realize that either this life isn’t for them or that this college isn’t right for them. Parents forcing their kids to go to specific colleges puts a lot of pressure on a kid and if you start them at a young age, that stress to be exactly perfect and get to the best college just keeps adding up.
