As more and more Americans are taking their own photographs as opposed to going photography studios the sales of digital cameras has inevitably increased. However the average person may encounter difficulty in purchasing technological devices such as digital cameras. Although most cameras come equipt with similar capabilities there is a wide variation in product quality and price. Beginning with the price and features the Nikon cost ranges from $629.95 to $3,387.00 while the Canon PowerShot is priced from $119.99- $199.99.The Nikon boasts it has a 12.3 megapixel shot and a 2.7 inch LCD swivel screen although the canon offers a 2.7 LCD screen as well, it does not tilt or swivel, and the canon has 12.1 megapixel capability. Another feature possed by both cameras is movie making capability. The Nikon offers movies capture at up to 1280 x 720 at 24 flicks per second with mono sound likewise the Canon offers a movie/ video mode which has the ability to capture at up to 640 x 480 at 30 flicks per second. Both cameras have the capability to take extremely detailed and beautiful pictures, but one feature you should definitely consider are the editing and automatic features. The Canon has a feature called Smart Auto this feature includes an automatic scene recognition mode which helps the camera adjust for the subjects distance, white balance, contrast dynamic range, lighting and color to determine the best exposure for that particular picture.
