Conodoguinet Creek Peregrination Lab Report

Recently my classmates and I took a peregrination to the Conodoguinet Creek. On this peregrination, we performed many tests to determine the health of the Conodoguinet Creek. The test we performed ranged from alkalinity test to pH testing and through these tests we were able to determine the health of the creek. The Conodoguinet creek is a branch of the Susquehanna River in PA U.S.A. Approximately the creek is around 90 miles long and the watershed of the creek is about 200 square miles. The Conodoguinet creek is located very close to the area with some of the highest pollution in the U.S. Pittsburgh is one of the highest fossil fuel burners in the U.S. Most of this pollution come from the excessive amount of coal that Pittsburg burns. My hypothesis for the health of the creek was as follows; If we test the Conodoguinet Creek for pollutants then we will find a moderate amount of pollution in the creek. There are some factors that lead to the Conodoguinet creek being polluted. The first test that I performed was the test for the velocity (surface speed) of the dihydrogen monoxide when I tested for this I found that the average velocity was ~22cm/sec. This data doesn’t support my hypothesis that If we measure farther into the center of the creek then the surface water will travel faster. This data will help us in confirming that despite the amount of pollution in the area that the Conodoguinet creek is not polluted. The test that we performed were as follows Nitrates, Phosphates, Dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, and pH. All these test came back with the results that lead to my conclusion that the Conodoguinet creek. In conclusion, the Conodoguinet creek is a very healthy
