The proposed technology solution is comprised of the collective decision from the interdisciplinary project team. COHC technical experts, and the NICU project team reviewed gathered information from vendors and specialists, and concluded that a connected care alarm management communication system will meet their needs, as well as support future growth. An important consideration in the development of the proposed solution is the workflow and configuration of clinical staff assignment. It is critical that care team assignments are accurate, and accessible to various systems to ensure that notification is sent to the appropriate caregiver. The project team found Connexall to be the most reliable solution requiring careful manual input by caregivers to ensure the correct information is recorded and transmitted to the connecting systems. The Connexall application database is used to determine the appropriate staff assignments by location, and contains customizable parameters to enable alert escalations and preconfigured alert delays based on an event. …show more content…
MHB allows users to place voice calls, and enables voice callbacks to the clinicians and families in patient rooms using the Responder 5 nurse call system application. A caregiver initiates a request for patient room assistance inside the patient room by selecting the appropriate Responder 5 button on the staff terminal. The ability to call back to the patient room using a phone or intercom was an integral part of caregiver and family communication.
