Steven Pinker addresses this absurd type of feeling in his article “Mind Over Mass Media.” He compares the fear we have of the internet and emerging technologies on our “brainpower and moral fiber” to the fear past generations had when “the printing press, newspapers, paperbacks, and television” were introduced at their respective times.
