People don’t always have the time to be able to meet with other people whom they have relationships with because we’re all ultimately busy most of the time. For example, my boyfriend commutes to a community college in Riverside, California. He actually lives in Lake Elsinore, California which is about 40 or so minutes away from Riverside. He has a busy schedule just like I also have a busy schedule with school, so we’re both lucky if he can come to UCR at least once a week. Technology helps us maintain our relationship because waiting to see each other and catch up once a week would be too much for us. We would feel lonely and left out having to wait to tell each other about everything that happened to us throughout the week. Technology helps those who are in long distance relationships and those who can’t see family, friends, and significant others daily. In conclusion, I disagree with Turkle’s opinion on how the widespread use of technology is supposedly disturbing the base of which we form our relationships off of. Technology, when used in the right ways, can be a wonderful way to stay in contact with current relationships while also creating new relationships along the way. For the most part, technology has impacted relationships in a positive manner for it has created a different sense of intimacy and connection for when people aren’t able to see their family, friends, and significant
