At the Conley Phebe Art Gallery, the artist paula Aranda created an art in acrylic on canvas titled Glutton. This paint is conformed by an enormous human body with a head of a ping. The space behind this figure is almost black, but at the same time the audience can see little of red color. The light in the paint is directed to the human figure with the pig’s head and is coming from the left top. The lines that are shown and that can be appreciated are the ones around the body and the pig’s head. The color used in this paint are secondary colors and primary colors. In my opinion,

In the piece drawn by the artist Mike Luckovich, there is no title for the picture provided, the artist uses both text and figures to enhance the message. The piece of art is in color. Although he uses humor as a strategy, the author is serious about what he is portraying as an issue. He uses a standard font, but capitalized. The layout divides the picture into four different scenes, it shows president Obama in all four scenes, he is sitting down behind a table and facing the screen, wearing different suits in each scene, and his face expression shows that he is serious.…

The image that shows a rattlesnake looking to the right in an aggressive stance. The snake is showing its teeth like it was trying to bite someone or trying to scare its opponent. The painting mostly shows grey and white colors, but also it shows green and yellow colors that help to the main idea of making the snake even more realistic than it looks. The repetition of the scales help to the creation of the body and the realism of the reptile.…

The amount of line that the artist built up around the eyes, nose , and the mouth of the figure provide interest towards the artwork. The element of lines make these features stand out the most and provide variety. As mentioned before, the color in this artwork is based off of a neutral palette, and those neutral colors visually illustrate the artwork as a coherent whole. The only variety that seems to be present is the technique of gradation the artist uses. There are areas where one hue is transitioning to another that has a lower intensity.…

The Hunger Number 2 art piece, with its color affect, appears to portray a young boy who seems to be sad or depressed. The glare in his eyes may be an indicator that he has been crying and the line coloring of his face may depict the face of a homeless person are struggling person who has not bathe in a while. The facial structure of the person in the portrait sets the overall tone of the artwork. The tone of this are work is pretty much balance on the basis that the concerned person in the portrait is in a vulnerable state. The facial structure of the artwork is given great emphasis because the artist provided much color to portray the sadness of the lips, the tired bags under the person eyes, and the teary eyes.…

The research I did for both my artworks not only brought me closer to the spiritual side that wood offers, but taught me a lot about the creation of realism. Through researching different artists, I learned the different techniques they use in order to create their master pieces in a realistic manner. Due to wood burning being a nearly forgotten medium, it was difficult to find artists but I managed to find some artists who have made some incredible works. Eric Battaglia represent, in his art work Birdcage (see Image 1), a human ribcage done using wood burning and a bird done in color. This artwork taught me about the way Battaglia created space using the simple technique of making what he wanted to be pushed back in a darker shade or burned…

On April 10, 2017, New Yorker magazine published a water color and black ink cartoon style painting entitled “Broken Windows” by cartoonist Barry Blitt on its cover. (Mouly, 2017) It is a multi-dimensional caricature with the back side of President Donald Trump in the foreground as he hits golf balls towards the White House which sits as a target in the background. The New Yorker, a magazine that has been in circulation since 1925 is published by Conde Nast and although geared to New Yorkers as it’s name implies, it receives national attention for its often political covers. This cover “Broken Windows,” is a clever pastel cartoon illustration, at first glance appearing comical, simple and bright.…

The artist I chose to write about was Kathe Kollwitz and the art I chose from her to write about is The Widow, from War (1921-22), published in 1923. This piece is in black and white like most of Kollwitz’s pieces. The woman has her head tilted down; she looks sad and possibly depressed. Her hands are worn and rough and one can tell she has worked hard during her life. Her belly is large indicating the woman is pregnant.…

Although the shapes in the middle ground and background appear to be balanced, the colors are asymmetrical. The left side of the painting uses a lot of naturalistic colors with the brown building and the pale blue sky. The right side of the painting uses more contrasting colors. The sky, the demon, and the rocky plain are colored in using dark brown, dark red, dark blue, and black. This contrasts with the area below the demon, which is hell, that colored in with intense yellow and red.…

There are four main conceptions that revolve around obesity; Body weight isn’t a physiologically controlled variable, it is developed by eating habits. It could be set to any desired level without acquiring severe health issues in the process. Weighing more than a certain standard creates a health hazard and efforts to lose weight should be made. Body shape which reflects the location of the dominant fat deposits, may have a much more important effect on a person's health than his or her overall weight. (Flatt, 2001, p.421)…

I find an interesting article on the internet which also talks about the hot debate whether the food should be viewed as art or not. The author Susan Smillie begins her article with a brief introduction of a piece of news which involves a wonder chef, Ferran Adria. The chef was invited to Documenta, the five-yearly German art show by the festivals director Roger Buergel as one of only two Spaniards. Then the debate was raised that whether Ferran Adria should be invited or not and even whether the food could be viewed as a kind of art or not.…
