Lawmakers who use the Constituency Career approach to reelection usually leave family behind more often than senior members and a large portion of staff is in home districts. Members who focus on the Constituency Career can often be left feeling as if they haven’t had much power or influence in Washington. Washington Careers are more common among incumbents or older lawmakers in position. With this choice of reelection strategy congressmen pay less attention to their home district and more the Capitol Hill. Two major goals of this career are to have influence in congress and to make good public policy. Involvement in politics is fueled more by their personal desire and attitudes. These types of lawmakers spend a majority of their time in Washington and make less frequent visit to their home district. Not as many of these staff member are from their home district. One solution
