In Confucianism and the Korean Family by Insook Han Park and Lee-Jay Cho, it was highlighted how Confucianism has influenced the culture of South Korea as well as the Korean families. The paper examined the Korean family, fertility rate, and changes in Confucian values, women’s status, and marriage. The authors also discussed how Confucianism came from an influential philosophy to a forgotten one, as Buddhism and Shamanism are becoming more known in contemporary Korea. Similar to Japan, the Confucian principle imposed a patrilineal society wherein the family member's job is to maintain the Confucian household (Lee Hyo-Jae, 1960; Ko Yung-Bok, 1967) and also the importance of the family.
