Regardless of the geographically restrictive natural features and distance between India and China, there are several similarities between the Chinese philosophy of Confucianism and and the religion of Buddhism. However, there are some important differences as well. In this essay, we will compare and contrast the differences and similarities between Buddhism and Confucianism by analyzing their essential teachings, appeal and proliferation along with the impact they made. Like many other religions Buddhism arose from the teachings of one person, in this case Siddhartha Gautama. In other words, the only way to achieve enlighten is from contemplation of ones self. The way one can uncover your place in the universe is only through you. Buddhism also advocated for the eight fold path which consisted of having the right knowledge of universal suffering, right purpose, right conduct, right speech, right livelihood, right endeavor and lastly right contemplation. The Eight Fold path centers upon the discipline you must partake to end all suffering and achieve Nirvana.

Chinese cultures ideologies is primarily based on social respect and always bringing honor to your country and most importantly your family.
