Keating's teachings is seen towards the end of Dead Poet’s Society. Once every other classmate at the school has accused Mr. Keating's of his “terrible deed” he is the last one to sign the confession paper. He signs the paper but with plenty of guilt in him. He knows the true meaning behind Mr Keating's teachings and how well it has helped view life in a new perspective, so he feels very guilty in signing something he knows is absurd. Not only through that part we see it but in the classroom. As Mr. Keating's is about to leave, Todd rises above the unconformity going on in the classroom, he says and does something no other person had done. He stands on top of his desk and says “O Captain! My Captain!” proving to everyone that has learned something overall on all of Mr. Keating's teachings. At first he started off as a shy person who believed he had nothing worth saying to the world. But in the end by doing this this he proves that he has contributed to a verse before. He unlike others started off as a realist in way he thought. But towards the end his train of thought has changed completely. In the end he has learned that he can contribute to the world and can express himself in the aspects of thoughts and emotions as well. That is why he stands on his desks and goes against the society at that moment, showing his true loyalty to Mr, Keatings and expressing what he believed was right to
