In Boxer’s case the consequences are both positive and negative. His mindset of working harder allows him to help the farm grow. On the farm the animals have a goal of building a windmill, Boxer is a major key when it comes to building the windmill. It would be possible to say that the windmill was finished quicker because Boxer was so dedicated. Even though Boxers conformity results in positive outcomes, there are also many negative outcomes that come along as well. Boxer was essentially Napoleon’s slave, Boxer always did anything need of him not knowing that his well being was not thought of. Also, Boxer grew very ill due to him pushing his limits outrageously and working harder than he could on a daily basis. In the long run Boxer ends up getting screwed over by Napoleon. Napoleon makes a deal with the humans and ends up sending Boxer to the knacker, where he will be killed and turned into glue. Unfortunately in some cases, like Boxer’s, some people will be hurt and not everything will be positive. Conformists do what they are told and fit the “norm”, although this sounds good the person who is conforming might be hurting themselves in the long run. Gandhi and other nonconformists like him choose to step out of line because they want to see what’s in front of them. This might seem like disobedience but there are many cases where it results in positivity and change for the better.
