Informative Speech Review

Two people reviewed the informative speech I gave on Thursday, October 15. Both reviewers graded, and scored my speech similarly. According to Joey Betley my highlight was that the video I showed reinforced my information, and was a good idea. For my improvement Joey Betley said to make more eye contact while speaking. I agree with this reviewer I do think that my eye contact was weak, and could have been better. As for the video I thought that it did a good job of explaining how windmills work, and made me more credible, and provided a good visual, and audio aid. According to Evan Klemme the highlight of my speech was that I stayed calm during my speech, and he said for improvement to not use the “you’re probably thinking” quote as much as I did. I also agree with this reviewer when I watched my speaking video I did notice that I sounded repetitive saying the “your probably thinking quote”. Also while watching my speaking video it did seem as though I stayed pretty calm even though I did not feel calm at …show more content…
I had many highlights such as the video, and how I seemed confident when speaking, but there were some minor things that need to be improved for future speeches. One thing that I noticed when I watched my speaking video was that my legs were crossed and I did not stand up straight. Whenever you perform a speech you always want to have good posture and, not be leaning on something. I also noticed that I confused carbon dioxide with carbon monoxide in my speech. It was a slight mix up since the two are completely different. I referred to carbon monoxide instead of carbon dioxide. Which made me look like I did not know what I was talking about. You always want to seem credible, and knowledgeable when you give a speech so it’s never good to get things mixed up or wrong. For my next speech I’m going to make sure I stand up straight with no legs crossed, and make sure that I don’t have any mix ups or confusion about

Ashlyn Mok Professor Leonard HCOM 100, Section 39 7 April 2016 Richard Kuklinski Introduction (Attention getter) DOCUMENTARY. Today, I am going to inform you about the life of a notorious mafia hitman, Richard Kuklinski, who was also known as the Iceman. There may be many mafia hit men out there, but Richard Kuklinski will forever be remembered because of how open he was to discuss his life and killings on camera. According to Jane Ridley, author of the article “Meet the Undercover Cop Who Brought ‘The Iceman’ to Justice” from the New York Post, posted on May 3, 2013, “Kuklinski got his nickname (The Iceman) because he often froze his victims’ bodies and then defrosted them (to throw off) the medical examiner’s determination of the time of…

After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

    1. Overall, I think Jackson did very well with his speech. He kept his vocal fillers (such as: umm, uhh, like, etc.) to a minimum, which I applaud him greatly for! Jackson handled his note cards throughout the speech well and only used them when necessary. His nonverbal communication complimented his words and made me feel comfortable while watching.…

My video seemed to be clear enough, the audio was not as good as I had hoped. I am proud I finally got the laptop to work with me and stayed relatively calm during the ordeal. I tried to get the audience in front of me as much as I could, since I do not have a classroom available to me. Overall, I think I have improved some from my "Just Bag It" speech. 2.…

Tiffany, I found your post to be very informative. I would like to add that C. diff can become very dangerous according to The Mayo Clinic, it can cause kidney failure and inflammation in the colon. Other symptoms include diarrhea, blood in the stool, weight loss, nausea, and pus in the stool. As you had mentioned in your post C. diff is more prominently seen in patients who’ve been in the hospital and who have been on antibiotics. I found it interesting to read in Science daily that C. diff reoccurs in 20 percent of patients who have suffered from the disease.…

The speaker did well on speaking clearly, made a good eye contact, and most importantly was he had a good transition throughout his speech. Firstly, he spoke very clearly through his speech because I can hear each of the single words that he spoke. It was important that the audience hear what he is talking about. Secondly, he made a good eye contact to the audience. He did not just focus on reading his note cards.…

After reviewing my persuasive speech over why the University of Oklahoma is the best university in the nation, I would sum up my speech as a little bit of train wreck. Although I made good claims with factual evidence, the amount of stuttering I did, and all the times I was choked up throughout the speech drew my audience’s attention away. From this, I lost my audience’s belief that I was competent of the information I was reiterating to them. At the introduction of my speech I believe I started out fairly strong and gave a good run down of the coming speech.…

After noticing the speaker’s confidence during the speech, it became clear that his calmness and ability to speak clearly, his ability to refer to his notes and to use the power point at the same time and also his ability to ensure he was the source of the information he was giving made his delivery good. This informative speech could have been improved with more body movement during the transitions and a good eye contact with the…

Final Persuasive Speech Reflection Believe me when I say that my progress from then to now has come a long way. Initially after giving the persuasive speech, I felt that there has been little process in all of this time that I had spent trying to learn to communicate more effectively. Worst of all perhaps, I felt powerless to do anything to change this. This was my most practiced speech and it did not feel that way. Even the thought of having to go back and essentially relive those 7 minutes was not something I was particularly excited about.…
