In the Outsiders by S.E Hinton your sterotypical poor trouble makers known as the Greasers and rich popular kids the Socs constantly clash while teaching you valuable lessons. Lessons about family and loyalty are shown through out the Greasers lifestyle.
The books major conflict consists of the the two groups of the Greasers and Socs constantly clashing. This clashing causes a fued between the groups called “The Rumble”. Ponyboy Curtis is one of the younger boys who is involved in this Rumble causes him some major injuries. Going into the fight a little uneasy the Greasers are missing some of their main boys due to hospitilization.
Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences between the Socs and Greasers are clear.
The characters in this book vary from different personalities. The character that the author focuses a lot around would be Ponyboy. Ponyboy is your average 14 year old boy, but there are some things different involving Ponyboy. Ponyboy lives with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop. The author makes the setting well known as the Gangs house. Their house is owned by Darry, but you can always count on a place to sleep if needed becuases the door is never locked. The brotherhood is shown through this book through this house. The house gives all the guys a place to sleep if things get rough within their home lives. The Gang’s house is a run down and dirty place where when the seven think home, the tattered walls with junk everywhere is what means home.
