Throughout A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah, the main character, Ishmael, faces many challenges and conflicts. These conflicts made Ishmael’s journey tough to get through. Throughout his journey, Ishmael faces villagers and rebels. Ishmael’s journey takes place in Sierra Leone, where rebels are trying to overthrow the government because of corruption and mismanagement of politics, and electoral violence. The rebels will do whatever it takes and will destroy anyone to reach their goal.
