Conflict In Ride Along

The in the movie “Ride Along” we get the inside look at different type of conflicts that the main character have with each other and the ways they change has the conflict go from being interpersonal to actually trying to solve it or at least come to a middle ground.
The first view of conflict it’s at the beginning of the film when the couple of Ben and Angela talk about the reaction Angela’s bother is going to have when he finds out Ben signed up for the police academy. We can already conclude that the relationship between Ben and James is going to be one sided where James holds power over Ben, because of the approval he wants from him. At this point the couple are open about the conflicts that are in the table. We also see another use of power

In this situation James is being passive-aggressive towards Ben by hiding his feeling about the police academy and inviting him to a ride along. In the police station one can sees that there is a shift of power were James loses power when talking to the chief, but regains it when he talks to Ben. Also James shows his passive-aggressive side when he asks only takes a sorting type of calls to scare Ben and make him change his mind about being a …show more content…
In the first call the get, James tells Ben to handle the situation of telling the bunch of bikers to move. James knows he will failed the task, and will have to jump in hinting that Ben cannot handle being a cop. On the spectrum of Ben he we will use legitimate power towards the bikers thinking that because he is being accompanied by a cop he can make them listen him. As the day continue James and Ben come to a marketplace where a man is being aggressive and destructive. Again James sends in Ben, knowing that the situation is too much for him. For Ben it’s a great opportunity to prove that he can do a task like a real officer. At this point Ben finds out that he was given the worst cases thanks to James, the power James had over Ben starts to disappear as they take one more call about a disturbance.
The conflicts that James was trying so hard to avoid come to the open when, the situation in a club escalated and a person is shot. Once again the chief shows that he has the power over James and that going after someone that doesn’t exist is pointless. At the same time Ben confronts James about the problem he has against him, showing that he can also express his power and that he is shore that the decisions he takes are the right
