imagery, and conflict Fahrenheit 451 creates a corrosive paradigm of the endless, dehumanizing
destruction of humankind.

He turns towards his home as the safest venue now to look for these answers. When Guy arrives home and finds his wife overdosed on drugs he immediately notifies the paramedics. The paramedics, savagely hook up their machines to the overdosed woman while smoking cigarettes inside of Guy’s house. The author set the tone of a society that’s completely disconnected from morality and lacks empathy for life itself. This in part fuels Guy’s rebellion. At work the next day it becomes obvious that something is wrong with Guy. He feels his guilt of rebellion is on display. The conflicts in this story are building on Guy and ultimately spill over when he witnesses the elderly lady burn herself and he steals a book in the process. It’s very interesting here because Guy doesn’t think that he stole the book. He blamed the illegal act on his hands. These are two powerful symbols of courage that resonated heavily within Montag and complexed the confusion that he was dealing with already. The internal conflicts have now become external and Guy is well on his way to rebellion. Guy’s Captain, chief Beatty comes to his home and tries to console him. The Captain used many versus of books to confuse Guy and get him to realize that books are a dead end. He knows Guy has a book but and tells him it’s okay to take one as long as it’s burnt the next day. The knowledge of books that Captain Beatty displayed from memory was a clear contradiction to Guy and filled his conflicts now with anger. This is the ultimate turning point for Guy as he knows that his work as a fireman is
