The internal conflicts have now become external and Guy is well on his way to rebellion. Guy’s Captain, chief Beatty comes to his home and tries to console him. The Captain used many versus of books to confuse Guy and get him to realize that books are a dead end. He knows Guy has a book but and tells him it’s okay to take one as long as it’s burnt the next day.
