The conflict between beowulf’s king and Beowulf himself is probably only shown in the animation to let Beowulf seem less contrasted in his decision of helping the distant village and probably because it's an easily negligible episode. As they arrive in Denmark the books describes accurately the way the men organize to enter the village: some of them stay with the boat to guard it, the others follow Beowulf to the King’s Hall. The animation is meant to transfer the figurative words of the poem, often misunderstood, into something visual, more concrete. I personally found it very useful to understand better how the facts took place, I could get more involved in the various feelings of the characters and figure out why every one of them did what they had done. Understand the pride that Beowulf took from defeating those monsters, that he didn’t really care about the gold and glory, as we can see in his last battle with the dragon, where he simply is happy that his kingdom is now wealthy, without caring much about the fact that he will never be able to enjoy
