Conflict is a fact. Not all people are going to get along and if not handled accordingly can become destructive. The Webster Dictionary defines conflict as a clash; battle or a disagreement of ideas, or interests (Webster, 2016). Conflict is tough for employees, managers and employers to face. Adding to this difficulty is the trouble in defining conflict, as each situation is different among each work environment. Not handling conflict promptly or correctly can lead to larger concerns and greater troubles. "Workplace conflicts can emerge in any number of forms, but there are some general, garden-variety types that I see on a repeated basis: conflicts with the boss, conflicts with peers and conflicts among a manager’s direct reports or teammates" (Fox, 2015). While there are many causes and effects due t conflict, the following interested me the most. Each stood out for its own reasons; some I can relate to every day environments others I did not associate with before reading about them. Employee turn over is a far-reaching concern which some may over look the association with conflict. "Turnover is another hidden cost of unresolved conflict. The business costs and impact of employee turnover can be grouped into five major categories: 1. Severance costs - voluntary or involuntary 2. Benefits costs - compensation, etc. 3. Recruitment & staffing cycle time costs, 4. Training & Development costs, 5. Lost productivity costs" (Ford, 2016). Figures will vary, but "the turnover…
