I think that the main relationship between conflict and power is that power almost always plays a part in conflict. This relationship between power and conflict can easily become a challenge to nurse in their role as patient advocate. Marquis and Huston (2015), define conflict as “ the internal or external discord that results from differences in ideas, values, or feeling between two or more people”(p.488). For example conflict may arise if the nurse disagrees or questions the doctors orders. In this example the doctor has more power than the nurse, this can be a challenge to the nurse if the doctor disagrees with her concerns, creating a conflict.
