Confirmation Retreat Letter

As I sit down to write this letter for your confirmation retreat, I would like to first tell you how honored I feel that you have chosen me to be your confirmation sponsor. I was with you when you were baptized into the Catholic faith, I witnessed you make your First Holy Communion, and now I look forward to walking next to you as you confirm your faith and are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Your parents have done an excellent job in raising you in the Catholic faith and I hope I played a part in that as well. It has been a pleasure watching you grow up and becoming the wonderful young lady you are today. Not only are you confident, strong, and intelligent but you are truly a disciple of God. I witness it all the time. A few

Requesting vocational rehabilitation services to attain a doctoral degree is not the normal; I know and fully understand that; however I would like VA to know by doing so they will be fulfilling a lifetime goal of a disabled Veteran.…

Adrenaline rushed through my tensed body as though I inched toward the edge of a cliff ready to jump off. Governor Hutchinson just rejected our plea to send the Dartmouth back to England, and everyone in Boston couldn’t take much more of England’s petty games of taxation and their seemingly unlimited power over the colonies. Once the governor’s answer came to everyone at the Old South Meetinghouse, I think we all felt something needed to be done to send a message to England that we had enough (Brooks). Being a part of the Sons of Liberty, I knew a plan was being devised no matter the outcome of the Dartmouth situation. We could hear the Dartmouth bellow while coming in to dock, and far off in the distance could be heard the Beaver and the Eleanor.…

Preface: I have many journals that I have used, on and off, throughout the years. I will be using them to aid my response, because after reading Living With a Wild God by Barbara Ehrenreich, I see no other way to fully express my change in faith than to speak to my younger self. Like Barbara, writing was a release for me, and I often reflect on my past journals, so I thought it would be appropriate to bring them into this essay. An Essay to Myself…

As a child I’ve grown up hearing the vibrations of tower bells ringing and the smell of incense that would surround the church, when that occurred I knew I would be reunited with my creator, yet again. As I begin to walk towards the church I began to notice such monumental door look down at me, once I extended my hand to greet the door I walked in. As my foot caressed the church floor the Holy Spirit entered me as I did the sign of the cross, the Holy Spirit was anxious to see its son, my soul. On this Sunday morning I knew that those around me would become by brothers and sisters, and that we would harmonize as a family. The culture of Hispanic Catholics has formed the backbone for Hispanic culture, and has impacted my personal life by refining my mentality.…

In the morning, have you ever noticed the light comes through from the window and spilled onto the floor? It is a tranquil and peaceful moment. Just like my first time stepping into a magnificent chapel at seven-year-old. Jesus was carved on the window which faced straightly to the aisle and the light came through from the stained glass, shining on the his face. I felt like everything was at the standstill, except the small molecules in the air.…

In my daily life, I encounter law, worship, and deeds of loving-kindness within school and my family. Looking past federal law, there are laws that I always should abide by, like the laws and rules that my parents set for me and that FSHA sets. An example of a law that my parents gave me is to always be responsible: when I am not responsible for my schoolwork and actions, I end up getting in trouble. At FSHA, we are expected to always focus in class and not use technology to take away from the learning experience by going on different websites during class. For worship, I am a practicing Catholic, and my mom and I pray every morning on the way to my bus stop.…
