Identifying information
For confidentiality, the client will be given the name of Star. Star is fourteen years old, and attends High School. She is in the ninth grade and reports that she lives with both of her parents, 12-year-old female sibling, 9-year-old male sibling, along with her maternal grandparents. Star is from Mexican descendent. Her parents are both fourth generation and were born and raised in East Los Angeles. Star’s maternal grandparents practice Catholicism and paternal grandparents practice Christianity. Star enjoys going to church with her paternal grandparents, but not with her maternal grandparents.
The family identify themselves as middle socioeconomic class. Mother works for Los Angeles County Department of Consumer

Star was unable to provide a strength for herself, she reported that she didn’t know. Father described his family as “not being violent” and getting a long well. Father reported that Star has a strong attachment to both parents and paternal grandparents. He added that the family tries to resolve their problems by talking and reported that they never utilize any violence. Star reported that she finds support in her paternal grandparents. Father and Star reported no prior or current Department of Children and Family Services or Law Enforcement involvement. Star would like to attend East Los Angeles College and then transfer to CSULA and pursue a career in writing.
Assessor’s observation
Star is very insightful and had the courage to ask for help as she would like to change and wants help to be able to talk to someone about her feelings. Star reported that she is open to therapy and open to practicing what is being learned in therapy, she reported that she has no one to talk to about her feelings. Despite Star feeling guilty, shameful and sad, she was very honest, cooperative and provided a lot of intimate information.
Per assessor, there seems to be a disconnect between Star and her parents. Mother has not been part of this assessment, by telephone or for the prior assessment. Father reported that things are well and that the “only” reason he is requesting
