In “Confidence in Resolving Conflict” by Nancy Pridgen it is stated that when you do not recognize low self-confidence you tend to, “doubt your abilities, second-guess yourself, and be hesitant about trusting your own judgment. You also might be pessimistic about a successful outcome which, in turn, gives you an excuse for not engaging in the first place.” It is highly recommended to be aware of thinking in that manner as it can lead to a bigger downfall, and like said, “reinforce your initial belief that you can’t do it.” After mastering confidence you will be more inclined to approach future situations in the same positive way. Sometimes though, confidence can not be gained as easily. Past experiences have a big influence on how you deal with current situations. Nancy Pridgen claims this could be due to the fact that past situations have not ended well for a particular individual.
