In Confetti Girl, the girl’s mother had passed away. This was very hard for her because she had had such a great relationship with her. This creates tension because the daughters want their parent to be the “perfect parent,” but it is very hard since they had lost the other parent. The girls both want to have a good relationship with their parent, but it is hard for them when the parent doesn't feel the same way towards their daughters. In conclusion, in both Confetti Girl and Tortilla Sun there is tension between the daughters and their remaining parent, for they struggle to feel loved from them.
