Have you ever gotten in an argument with your parents? I'm sure you have, but try only having one parent to get along with. In Confetti Girl, the girl wants to be able to spend more time with her father, but her father just wants to focus on school and reading. In Tortilla Sun the girl also just wants to be able to spend time with her mom, but her mom does not value her daughter's opinion. Also, they both want to have someone to actually love them, but their parents have higher priorities than their children. Having only one parent can be rough if you do not get along with them very well.

In Confetti Girl, the girl’s mother had passed away. This was very hard for her because she had had such a great relationship with her. Although her mother had passed away, she still wanted to have a loving relationship with her father, but their personalities were so different. She wanted to be able to talk to her dad and spend time with him, while he was more focused on his books and work. She got very upset because they were eating dinner

They just want their parent to love them and put them as their first priority. This creates tension because the daughters want their parent to be the “perfect parent,” but it is very hard since they had lost the other parent. The girls both want to have a good relationship with their parent, but it is hard for them when the parent doesn't feel the same way towards their daughters. Both these girls just want to have someone to talk to, but they have a very hard time when their parents just leave them.

In conclusion, in both Confetti Girl and Tortilla Sun there is tension between the daughters and their remaining parent, for they struggle to feel loved from them.
