I believe that the divide on what the Confederate flag represents will never be resolved. I don’t see the divide ever being resolved because there are different perspectives. One may view the flag as a symbol that represents the terrible things that happened during the Civil War and inequality, while another might view it as a symbol that represents the Confederate veterans that fought in the war and heritage. Both sides will continue to exist and believe their own personal meaning of the Confederate flag because of influence. Influence has been used in Germany by having students participate in a mandatory visit to a former concentration camp from World War II.
