Conducting Graduate-Level Research Paper: Differences

Decent Essays
Conducting graduate-level research has several differences then my undergraduate programs. We were required to submit one research paper using APA format. I remember working long, hard hours preparing my research paper. I conducted my paper on human trafficking. This research paper was 10 pages. That was one of few experiences using APA format. During my graduate level course so far we have had to submit APA sources in each discussion questions and also in our assignments. I believe that it has helped me gain more knowledge on the topics we have been discussing. I am required to find sources about my topic which means I am reading more information and learning more. “Time commitment available to the research experience” (Differences," n.d.,

Pre-Teaching Another common general practice that teachers can use to help students with learning disabilities is called pre-teaching. Munk, Gibb, and Caldarella (2010) define pre-teaching as “the advance introduction of information that prepares students for upcoming instruction” (as cited in Berg and Wehby, p. 15). The introduction of difficult concepts and vocabulary can have a significant impact on a student’s progress understanding of new course material. Pre-teaching does not simply have to address vocabulary or concepts for an upcoming lecture. Instead, pre-teaching can be used to review previous concepts learned from a previous section.…

Dare, A Regretful Education Have you ever wondered how the D.A.R.E. program worked in the United States? Well I can tell you this, if an officer that is involved with the D.A.R.E. program is trying to show you the impact of a substance, then why do you see them doing that same substance while off duty? They are either smoking a cigarette or guzzling booze until they are downright wasted, if this is the kind of inspiration that helps you stay away from substances, well it’d work better than what you’re learning from D.A.R.E. A multitude of people believe the D.A.R.E. program should be replaced with a different program that provides a new/better way to fight substance abuse, others believe D.A.R.E. should be able to help in the education…

Poverty, hunger, and homelessness are all fairly sizable problems in the United States of America. Unfortunately poverty is an issue that is often unseen by many while poor people’s voices are infrequently heard. A child’s definition of poverty from Jonathan Kozol’s “Still Separate, Still Unequal” is, “It is like being hidden. It’s as if you have been put in a garage where, if they don’t have room for something but aren’t sure if they should throw it out, they put it where they don’t need to think of it again.” (Kozol 38)…

College Writing And Reading For The Incoming Freshman The transition between High School and University writing can be challenging to the ill-prepared student. In high school we might have gotten great feedback from teachers about our work: “great job”, “very good” etc, but in college our professors might comment differently most likely because they are searching for something different in college writing. Most often because professors expect a different style of writing than that of a high school class, such as a more developed opinion on the subject rather than a summary of what you researched. The most significant differences are visible in structure, research, argument, and format. In college writing, we move away from the standard…

Being a first generation college student, I did not know that I could have a career conducting research or that I could have a profession that inspired me in the way that conducting research has thus far. I would like to pursue graduate education because despite my collection of research experiences and my education in statistics and research methods, I know that there is a realm of skills that I do not currently possess that are necessary to conduct higher level research. Study at a university like the University of Tennessee will not only provide me the quality education needed to conduct research but it will connect me to individuals who will help to open avenues previously closed to me. I have always wanted to do something that would change the world and I understand that is a lofty goal, but if I could use my talents and passions to help just a few people, then I would feel accomplished.…
