Homosexuality and the Christian lifestyle do not belong together. Yet all those who participate in the homosexual lifestyle make excuses for their actions and some even justify them by twisting God’s revealed truth. True believers in Christ ought to recognize and promote that this sinful lifestyle defies the laws of nature, biblical relationships, and social norms. We are all born in sin and have innate desires that are rooted in our hearts to do the wrong thing. As Christians, we are called to fight against those desires and pursue a life that honors and glorifies God. Those desires can be anything from anger to sexual impurity. This viewpoint is clearly unbiblical because Leviticus 18:22 states, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.” And Leviticus 20:13 says, “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.” (ESV). God refers to homosexual sin as an abomination. A biblical definition of the word abomination is used to describe practices that are disgusting, loathsome and absolutely intolerable—things that are unacceptable to God and that violates his character (Satinover). As we can see, Sodom and Gomorrah were wicked and deep in sin but the main reason God destroyed them was because of their sins of homosexuality. Ezekiel confirms this fact by stating that God removed them because of their abominations (vs. 50). Robert Gnuse also indicates that the angels sinned rather than the men of Sodom (Gnuse 75).
