Most people know what a concussion is, but what they don’t know is how much they actually effect a persons brain. I know that when I hear that somebody has a concussion I get very worried, as many others would too. After I wondered what really happened to a persons brain when they got a concussion, I decided to do some research. This is why I would compare a concussion to an essay. For those of you who play a contact sport it is very likely that you or a teammate could face getting a concussion. First, I am going to talk about what a concussion really is, some of the symptoms, and who is prone to get a concussion. Next, I am going to talk about what happens inside a persons head or brain and other body systems when they have a concussion.

I would first like to talk about how concussions can effect a persons life after they occur. Sometimes if a concussion isn 't treated properly a person can experience something called post-concussion syndrome according to an article written called long-term effects of brain injuries. A couple effects this may have is a delay in a persons ability to work and an effect on the quality their life. Another effect may be on a persons development such as personality and mood. A person may be very sensitive to light and sound for awhile after getting a concussion. According to an article written by multiple doctors called long term consequences women are more likely to experience post-concussion syndrome, and typically report to have longer symptoms than men. Next, I would like to talk about possible diseases a person could get from brain trauma or concussions. A few diseases are Alzheimer 's, Parkinson 's, or ALS. Its not likely that most will get any of these diseases but the outcome is possible. Somebody could also experience CTE. CTE is typically found in athletes, people who have had head injury due to military work, and individuals who frequently have seizures. Next, I talked about what happens inside a persons head, and lastly about some of the many long term effects of a concussion. For anybody involved in sports or anybody who is just extremely clumsy I hope that I informed you of all the things you must do before you can play again or are able to do all normal activity again.
