Concordia Research Paper

Concordia is the only college I have not visited yet of the four schools I choose to research. Therefore, this school is on the lower side of my prefered choices, but after I started doing my research, I found that there is a good possibility that I could attend this college. The average class size is small which is the biggest thing for me. Their student to faculty ratio is 11:1, which is actually the same as Gustavus. The size of a lecture is usually 18 students. I believe that with the small classes that they offer, I would have an easier and better learning experience. A class of 18 would be perfect for me and that is why I ranked Concordia as a 4 for average class size. Concordia did not have a very high career placement rate. When I discovered that only 58% of graduates had a full-time job offer within six months of graduation, I was surprised. That percentage is fairly low. When I add all of that up, the total cost for Concordia is $45,688. The price does appear to be a lot, but remember, Concordia is a private school. If you break it down, it costs about $1,719 per credit hour. Just like Gustavus, Concordia offers a considerable amount in financial aid and scholarships. The average financial aid package is $35,516. When I was looking at the total price to attend Concordia next fall compared to the other colleges, I decided to rank it at a 2 for cost. Out of the four colleges, Concordia is the furthest away from Montevideo. I do not like the fact that it would be an almost three hour drive home. If I am that far away, I most likely will not get to come home as much as I would like to. Although my criteria stated less than three hours away, I would like to be closer than farther. With all being said, I ranked Concordia as a 1 for distance from

Classes are interesting, and I enjoy them. I have found a housing in Berwyn, but I am still interested to find something near the school. The evening classes make me concerned a little bit as I have to wait for the train after 9 p.m. Most of the times I missed the 9:00 train and had to wait another 45 mins sitting alone at the station. I felt sometimes unsafe and so I prefer finding something near the college and hope the cost will be affordable.…

Transferring to University of Maryland, Baltimore County will allow me to achieve my goals both in educational and personal aspects. The institution has a Biological Sciences degree which allows me, as a soon to be graduate from Hagerstown Community College with an Associate’s in Biology, to pursue and finish the next level of post-secondary education, achieving a Bachelor’s degree. In addition to pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences, UMBC has many clubs and activities to be involved in which will allow me to create new friends and provide a way to network with other students that has the same goals as me. I strongly believe that at my local community college, most of the students and professors don’t share similar ideas and goals as me and was difficult to find and achieve things I want to do after college. Thus, my passion to learn has slump down a bit.…
