Abstract:
Even though the Philippines has improved their economy and lives of people for the past years, the country’s majority of people are still in poverty. Though, the country’s economy is not doing much to help these people have a better life. What is poverty? Economically, poverty is when people do not meet basic certain requirements for a better living condition, for example: food, clothing, and shelter. In rural areas, the only way people can earn income is through agriculture, therefore, depending on the existing of farming and fishing. These people are forced to work in agricultural areas because they don 't get enough education, or don 't get education at all. In an Economic development of a country, poverty can come from what is called the cycle of poverty. Poverty is an ongoing and continuous situations that are not changed in order to make a better and productive society. Low productivity of a country can be measured with the amount of time, products, and labor is being outputted. With extremely low productivity, chances are there will be huge amounts of decrease in the amount of income workers will earn. Low income in a country or society can result in very poor health and education for it’s people, leading to as stated, poverty. People who have earn very low income tend to become more and more illiterate. Knowing how to read and write is one of the most important abilities individuals should be able to do and with illiterate individuals, they find it a lot harder to get stable job because most have a high demand for these …show more content…
As mentioned in the brief history of the Philippines, corruption is when someone or a group is dishonest or bribes the mass media for the use of their own benefit. Corruption of Philippine leaders in the Philippines has been a problem of the country for centuries. Philippines had experienced corruption every since they got their independence from American control. Philippines has been through dictators and rulers in their history that gave the country huge corruption. One technique that corrupt leaders would do is the idea or usage of Pork Barrel, it is where candidates try to gain people’s votes and please them through the use of government
