Live Concert Report: Fiddler on the Roof
The following is my personal report of CBC’s summer showcase performance of Joseph Stein’s Fiddler on the Roof. This is a musical so the performers didn’t play any instruments themselves other than their own vocal instruments, well besides the fiddler that appearance’s on the roof in the very beginning of the performance. So, the violin is obviously the first instrument that stands out in the play. The musical instruments that are played throughout the performance by the orchestra are the violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpets, French horn, trombone, piano, and drums. The orchestra was located on the left side of the stage from the audiences’ perspective.

I watched this performance at the outdoor theater so I was seated on a chair outside that was provided by CBC on

The performers were energetic when they needed to be and calmer when they needed to be. I’m not an expert, but the singers seemed to be in tune with each other during this song. It seemed like the performers had practices a lot and were completely comfortable with their technical demands. The performers all seemed to know what they were supposed to be doing and when to do it, there was quite a few props that needed to be brought in and taken out before and after this performance and it was done flawlessly.
The composition and performance I liked the least were both the song, Miracle of Miracles. It’s a romantic style song that I just didn’t care for. The beat of this song didn’t seem to flow with the rest of the songs that came before it. Although the performers did their best trying to display energy the music didn’t really provide for much. The performers singing was in tune when it could be considering that the harmony seemed to be dissonant and it just seemed out of place to me with the lyrics. This was one of the only songs in the concert that I could wait to

Overall I expected it to be a great performance, and it is safe to say my expectations were met. There was a lot of kids, and babies in attendance which I didn’t expect at all. The performance put on by the Orchestra was great. When the director of the orchestra entered the stage everyone in the audience gave him an applause as he starts to greet the audience, and talk about the performance. The projector behind the performers had videos, and drawings displayed that was turned into amination, and it brought the drawings to life while making the story more entertaining.…

As stated before the concert was not what I was expecting. I enjoyed it more than I believed I would, it certainly isn’t my new favorite type of music, but understanding aspects of it gave me a greater appreciation for the music and the musicians. Things such as a recognizable basso ostinato set by the base player were a familiar starting point. When the soloists needed an accompaniment the bassist varied the continuous rhythm to compliment what the soloist was playing, otherwise, the beat was…

Now there were a couple songs in this but I really enjoyed the first one the best, so I focused on that song more but many of the songs are similar in there beat. This concert had four instruments all of which were string instruments which allowed for the song to flow better with each instrument. I love the sound of violin and viola together, while the cello and guitar are strumming at a lower beat than them. Overall this concert was amazing I could see and hear so much beauty through the entire performance.…

It was very quiet and everyone was extremely respectful. I rarely even saw someone whisper to another. Once the performance ended the last memorable demeanor was how long the audience clapped for. We applauded the performers in a standing ovation and the clapping lasted for what seemed like a couple of minutes. The slightest movement or sight of the performers would cause the clapping to intensify.…

Unforgettable with Stephanie Aaron and the Bradley Jazz Ensemble was a very unique experience. I do not attend many concerts, but the ones that I have gone to were nothing like this one. The concert was full of energy and the lighting was dynamic. I mostly went to traditional concerts, but this jazz concert was much more energetic. When musicians would finish a solo the crowd would applaud and there was a lot of movement among the ensemble.…

On October 20, 2015 I had the pleasure of watching the University Jazz Ensemble II at the University of Louisville in Comstock. I have now been to a handful of jazz performances and I would have to say that this is my favorite. In this jazz ensemble, Jerry stated this particular ensemble was full of music majors, jazz majors, music educators, and graduates. I like seeing jazz ensembles that are mixed up with young and old, male and female.…

andI also appreciated that they weren’t all just brass and woodwind instruments like you would find in a high school band. Some instruments that I took note of were the two harps, two bass’, six cellos, some viola’s, and many violins. There were also tubas, oboes, bassoons, and a grand piano. Before the performance started, a student who was performing stood up and walked to the conductor’s stage, and tuned all of the…
