Concert Observation Essay

The second concert to go to was on saturday November 4th at 8pm at Stony Brook University’s Staller center. The atmosphere of being at staller felt pleasant and relatable as I was not going to the symphony just for an assignment, but rather as a guest ready for a good show. Awaiting for the symphony to begin, sitting at the top final row on the room, I realized my surrounding was that large amounts of older folks wore presentable outfits, students with casual attire, and the orchestra wearing white and black. As in any other concert, the audience behavior before the start of the program was settling down and reading the little pamphlet that was placed on top of their seat preparing for the show. In the first movement, it had a spring feeling tone to it. This piece had the words beautiful, weird, and exciting on the back of my mind. The first movement was beautiful as it felt to see as a spring feeling tone. The second movement was where I felt the pianist was just hitting the keys randomly, a very odd melody. The third movement was where everything came together and made sense, the exciting part was towards the very end where the dynamics increased and the tempo was fast with a familiar second theme for the finale. The packet given to me at the concert is similar to my experience. The piece description mentioned folksongs and tunes based off of other songs that I did not mention because I never heard of these. With the pre concert assignment being more understandable and perhaps more of a beginners level to music, Tchaikovsky’s piece was more towards the moderate or those with experience in the area of music. Overall, the experience I had at my second symphony concert was unlike the first, the level of understanding such music may be complicated, but towards the end, it comes together to produce a beautiful
