Conceptual consistency is the use of behaviour analytic programming. A behaviour analyst must use concepts that are scientifically proven within the field. A behaviour analyst must also use concepts that are consistent with Skinner’s 1938 work and Baer, Wolf, and Risley’s 1968 work. Two examples of therapies that are not conceptually consistent with behaviour analysis are floor time and sensory integration.
Behaviour analysts involve clients in treatment planning to ensure the behaviour analyst understands the client’s values and understand the client’s concept of treatment. This understanding helps the behaviour analyst and client have total transparency about what behaviour analysis means and what the treatments entail.
