Concept Artist Career Analysis
There are many potential careers in the field of game design that draw my attention. Of them all, the one that really interests me most is concept artist. A concept artist comes up with ideas, concepts, and the early sketches of what a game will look like. This professional takes a story or theme and invents how the characters, objects, actions, and background sceneries which bring the story to life. The concept art that this person creates is a very important part of the pre-production and production process. Concept art is not just creating an idea out of nothing, it is making many, even hundreds of variations of one character, object,

In the Internal Stage there is a huge focus on making different versions of your design and as many of them as possible. Many designs are needed so that the group can look at the designs, discuss them, explore alternatives, and eliminate designs until they have narrowed them down to a few that are really good. It is sort of like looking through a bin of Legos for the one piece you need to complete a model. When in this phase there are a number of professionals that should be a part of the creative process (Anhut). These usually include the creative directors, writers, lead artists, 3D artists and animators, and game designers (who develop the rules of the …show more content…
First, I would finish a game design related degree while taking lots of time to sketch and practice the art form. The majority (64%) of people, that are in a hiring position, say about having a college degree is “important, but I’d consider a candidate without one” (Adams). This shows I’m more likely to get a good job if I finish college and learn more about the industry, different areas in game design, and get a more well-rounded education.
Second, after creating a portfolio of sketches and designs, I will put together a website, with my best work on it. It is better to have 10 pieces of amazing art then to have 50 “pretty good” ones (Hill). I’m also plan to do all the free work I can to get experience. The more free work I do for different teams the more I can put on my résumé.
Third, while I am doing that, I will be trying to meet and network with as many people in the field as I can. Making connections in the industry is helpful when looking for a job. For example, that professor you had in class may be a friend of the CEO of a popular gaming company. Having plenty of great references will also increase your chances in getting hired. Creating a solid résumé and portfolio and building strong relationships will help me be successful in the game industry. This is my plan on how I can become a great concept artist. Wish me

I was born in Germany, where I was surrounded by rich European art. Most of my artwork represents places, buildings, and artists that I was exposed to while living in Germany. I was introduced to art at an early age by my mother who took me to an art museum where I began taking art lessons at. Throughout the years I developed a heartfelt passion for art and the medieval era. When we left Germany my art was still in a cartoonist style, but when we came over to the US my elementary and high school art teacher helped me develop a more realistic style that shows traces of my heritage.…

Like all marriages, my parents would argue and at times the stress from that affected me. When this occurs, it sparks the moment I feel my creativity peaking and experience a substantial urge to create, whether it is a melody on my keyboard or a piece of artwork. I’ve learned to paint nature scenes on canvas with a heavy influence from the late Bob Ross.…
